Phenylthiourea PTC Genetic Taste Test Strip
A case of five clear vials, each holding 100 phenylthiocarbamide (PTC) taste test strips measuring 6 x 48 mm and carrying 30 µg of PTC, a safe amount for taste testing. Placed on the tongue, the strip releases PTC, which tastes bitter or unpleasant to about 7 in 10 people and of nothing to the rest. This inherited difference makes the strips a simple demonstration of genetics and heredity in class, and researchers use them to study how taste is inherited. Use one strip per person and do not swallow it.
