Rotary Microtome
A rotary microtome with a heavy base, a hinged cover protecting the mechanism and a knife holder, supplied with a 120 mm razor of heat-treated steel tested for microstructure. Each turn of the drive wheel engages a ratchet that advances the specimen holder through a cone and inclined-plane mechanism, and a safety device disengages the feed automatically. The feed indicator is at the front and the setting at the back, adjustable from 1 to 50 µm (minimum section 1 µm); total feed travel is 28 mm. The razor can tilt up to 30° on a reference scale. Overall size 40 x 38 x 23 cm with wooden case; weight about 30 kg.
